Allen’s Downtown Steering Committee, led by resident volunteers, was formed in June 2021 to develop a vision to revitalize downtown. The group recently completed Phase 1 of its work and is preparing to move into Phase 2 which focuses on community feedback and engagement. Outreach (January-March): Meetings with HOAs, PTA meetings, Allen Public Library Book Club, community events, Collin College Tech Campus, Allen-Fairview Chamber of Commerce, Allen Arts Alliance and more
Visioning workshops (January-March): Five geographically based workshops to include one high school workshop
Online engagement: Surveys, Idea Wall, mapping exercises
Three-day planning charrette (March): Discuss research from Phases 1 and 2 with the Downtown Steering Committee. Help define three visions for downtown revitalization.
Post-charrette feedback (April-May): Re-engage with the Committee to choose a final vision to present to City Council.
