911 Education
Allen Police Department urges everyone to learn the best use of 911 services. Here are a few tips to keep in mind when calling 911:
- 911 is for emergencies only: to save a life, stop a crime, or report a fire.
For non-emergencies in Allen, call 214.509.4321. - Stay calm: listen carefully to the 911 call taker, give information, and follow all instructions.
- Know where you are: be able to report your location. Whenever possible, use a landline.
- Know your cell phone: cell phones don't provide precise locations. Know your surroundings and landmarks to report to 911 call taker.
- Old phones are not toys: wireless phones with no active service can still call 911.
